ONGC – Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Gandhi Institute

India’s most respected NGO, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, the Institute of National eminence and India’s one of the biggest PSUs, Oil and Natural Gas Company as part of their CSR programme got together to empower the educated unemployed youth with the computer skills in their operational areas.

This was made possible by the initiative of Sri.Murli Deoraji, former Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India and Vice-President, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in July 2010. Initially 5 centres started operations by end of 2010 in the following areas.



  Rajahmundry Centre at Amalapuram

  Dehradun Centre

  Karaikal Centre

  Nazira Centre

  Mehsana Centre


Two more additional centres at Dehradun and Nazira have started functioning from July 2014.

There is a total training capacity of 840 students per year. Students are empowered in Computer skills, Harware skills and Spoken English skills there by giving them an opportunity to compete in the real world and get employments. Some of the activities of the centres.


 Training cetnres at 7 places

 Courses offering Computer, Harware and Spoken English skills.

 3 Month Duration, Alternate Days, 2 Hrs per class.

 Placement Assistants given to desiring studetns.

 Course materials worth Rs. 350 is given free of cost.



ONGC-GICEIT Project – Phase-I
﷯ONGC through its corporate citizenship policy promotes education, healthcare and entrepreneurship in the community. So under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), ONGC authorities extended financial support to Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan for setting-up the Centres at their work stations where they can give Free Job / Entrepreneurship Oriented Computer Education to weaker section of the society to improve the general efficiency of the candidate. The proposal was submitted by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan on 14th January, 2009 to ONGC Ltd and the project proposal was accepted in May 2009 and the MOU was signed on 21st May, 2009 Implementation

Phase II Continuation to the ONGC-GICEIT Project has been given w.e.f. 1st January, 2014. The revised agreement includes 5 existing centres and 2 extended centres of Free Computer Training at the following locations. 1. Nazira –Assam
2. Dehradun ISBT -Uttaranchal
3. Karaikal-Pondicherry
4. Amlapuram- Rajahmundry
5. Mehsana-Gujarat
6. Dehradun Selaqui -Uttaranchal
7. Lakwa-Assam
The centres will conduct computer courses in both basic and advance levels.
Also to improve employability additional courses in conversational English and Soft Skills are introduced.
